The very talented and very creative Molly Irwin posted a wonderful idea on her self-named blog today - one good loaf. She states the nature of the challenge best.
One good loaf is a weekly, fall-winter 08/09 visual diary of wheat, bran, leavening, seeds, and sweeteners. Join us in the exploration of our own pantry shelves, by submitting a new variety of bread each week: boule, biscuits, bread sticks, scones, or quick breads -- it's up to you. Let's head into these crisp autumnal evenings, filling our homes with the scent of honey and rye.
Link to the group she has set up at flickr and register to share. All are welcome!
Now when I first saw this today, I thought about compiling an entire list of books and other sources for baking bread but then I realized that would constitute somewhat of a sham as I only use the three I featured above. Also, thought this might be a great time for all to chime in with their own favorite baking books and sources, both here and in the flickr group. You tell me, do you have one good loaf in you? Rose, Julia, Nigella and I are off to the kitchen to find out.
