Posting quickly and a little late in the day because I have been goofing off at the annual ALA Conference with Teresa from Shelf Love. We hit the exhibits and waded through the kid lit-centric displays (which contained more books that we want to read than perhaps we should admit), had some good conversations with publicists, picked up some books here and there, and got our cards swiped to receive more via the mail. Always a good time. Especially because I will finally get my hands on the new Krauss galley.
But the best part? Well, Teresa, of course. Always nice to meet a fellow blogger face to face and this is the second time we have ventured out together. Today we discovered that we went to the same school for undergrad (not at the same time as I am four years older) and that means that I also went to the same school as her blogging partner, Jenny. And what do we want to do next? We want to take Thomas from My Porch out of his new, charming money pit of a house to go to the Daedalus Books warehouse store up in Columbia, Maryland. And Thomas, if you are reading here, we'll buy your books after the air conditioning debacle! Any other DC bloggers want to join in, just comment here and we'll all get together soon. We will not be buying your books.
Came home to an empty house. This never happens. I work with children, I have children, I am never alone. So right now, I will either take a nap or finish up the new Oscar Hijuelos so that I can finally get to the new Martel. Still feeling apprehensive about that. But will give it a try.
What are you reading in the Sunday Salon today?
