Thirty-Six Views of the Eiffel Tower: A Turn-of-the-Century Tribute to the City of Light by Henri Riviere was first published in 1902 and was inspired by Hokusai's Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. The black and white lithographs are lovely but the burnt umber depictions of turn-of-the-century Paris are especially beautiful to me. I picked this up in a museum book shop recently, and thought it would be an appreciated book gift suggestion during Paris in July - a reading project I am committed to but just getting started on now a week into the month.
