Claire, Emily, Sarah and Richard are all exemplary readers. Infinitely readable writers. And some of my best blogging friends. We share a lot of the same tastes in books, and trust each other's recommendations. And are willing to forgive each other the "misses" (can you say Kristin Lavransdatter? Or Orlando for Richard?) We have reveled in 2666 together, slogged through the incessant weeping from Sigrid Undset's pen, are still deep in Woolf in Winter. And have a plan for the rest of the year.

The posting day for each shared read is the last Friday of that month. We thought about giving ourselves a name, a logo, some buttons. But whether because of indifference, laziness or a reluctance to betray our irreverent natures to the blogosphere (you should see some of the smack talk we throw around at each other in emails), we did not. But we are open to suggestions of course. So despite our slacker host status, we welcome all of you to read along with any or all of these choices. We all love a great conversation.
On Friday, March 26, we will post on The Night of the Iguana by Tennessee Williams. Some of us also plan on watching the 1964 film version directed by John Huston in order to compare the two. Just to let you know. Hope to have you join us.
