This Penguin Bookchase game is quite a bit of fun, but I would not recommend it to non-bookish sorts. Or as Thomas, Teresa, and Christy and I all agreed on Sunday night, this one calls for just the right competitors who don't mind the occasional puzzle of a question. May I share an example?
The top is easy, the bottom answerable for many, but what about the middle one? The question writers do have a sense of humor though, and many of the comments were sly and sarcastically delightful. Just like Thomas. The food, the wine, the company were all perfect for a chilly Sunday night. And there was Lucy too.
Now all of this should have been enough, but then we discussed Persephones during a very slow trip toward the front door. When I revealed that Mariana by Monica Dickens, a much-appreciated gift from Marie last Christmas, was my favorite Persephone so far, Thomas disappeared into the library for a moment and returned with this.
For me. Such a perfect gift. He really is the soul of generosity. I can't tell you how much I love and appreciate this. Many thanks to all for a great night, and wishing you all such bookish fun.
